Leaked images reveal Lenovo’s first models for Google’s new Googlebook category, with features targeting the premium market, while ASUS’s renders raise questions over authenticity ahead of a planned release this fall involving Acer, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.
Google’s new Googlebook category is beginning to take shape ahead of a planned launch later this year, with fresh images showing Lenovo’s first models and what appears to be an early look at ASUS’s entry, although the latter may not be genuine press material.
Android Authority reported that the latest Lenovo images reveal the larger of its two Googlebooks in sharper detail, adding clearer views of the port selection, hinge and overall chassis design. The machine appears closely aligned with Lenovo’s existing Chromebook styling, with a restrained white finish and a premium, business-like layout.
Android Central said Lenovo is preparing three Googlebook devices in all: two laptops and a 2-in-1 tablet. Its report said the line-up includes USB-A and USB-C ports, side-mounted speakers, a Pixel Glow LED and, on the tablet, stylus support with a keyboard and kickstand case. That report also suggested the devices may be priced at the premium end of the market because of higher memory costs.
TechRadar reported that the Lenovo Googlebook 15 will feature a notched display with a privacy webcam, slim bezels, Dolby Atmos speakers and a Gemini key on the keyboard. The outlet also said Lenovo’s 2-in-1 resembles a Surface-style device with a detachable keyboard and magnetic stylus, pointing to a broader push into more traditional PC form factors.
The ASUS images are less straightforward. Android Authority noted that the set published by Digital Citizen appears to be AI-generated rather than authentic renders, citing visual artefacts in the keyboard, status icons and branding. The publication said it could not confirm whether the images were derived from real press material that had been altered by an AI tool, but added that they do not look fully legitimate as published.
Google has already framed Googlebook as a new laptop category built around Gemini and Android, with features including contextual AI suggestions, custom widgets and deeper integration with Android apps and phone files. According to Google’s own announcement, the first wave of devices will come from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo, with availability expected this fall.
