Samsung's new foldables and smartwatches accelerate premium growth in India

Samsung launches its latest foldable smartphones and smartwatches in India, with high demand and innovative features marking a significant push into the premium tech market amid rising consumer interest.

Samsung has opened sales of its latest foldable phones and smartwatches in India, bringing the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9 to market on August 7, 2026. According to Samsung’s Indian launch announcement and local coverage of the rollout, the devices are now available through Samsung.com, Amazon, Flipkart and offline retailers.

The pricing places the new foldables firmly in the premium segment. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at ₹1,99,999 for the 12GB/256GB model, rising to ₹2,59,999 for the 16GB/1TB version. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 begins at ₹1,79,999, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 starts at ₹1,24,999. On the wearables side, the Galaxy Watch 9 starts at ₹37,999 for the 40mm Bluetooth version and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is listed from ₹64,999 for LTE, with higher variants costing more.

Samsung says the launch follows strong early demand. The company reported 2.7 lakh pre-orders for the three foldables within 72 hours of its July 22 Unpacked event, a sign that foldables are continuing to gain traction even at elevated price points. Industry coverage also suggests that the new Galaxy Z Fold 8, with its wider and shorter design, has been particularly well received in pre-orders, while the Ultra model remains Samsung’s most technically ambitious foldable.

The hardware strategy is clear. Samsung’s own launch material describes the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra as the first Ultra model in its foldable range, with an 8-inch inner display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a 200-megapixel main camera and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 introduces a new form factor and lighter body, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 focuses on refinements and more useful AI features on the FlexWindow cover screen. Together, the line-up shows Samsung is pushing both performance and practicality in a market that is still niche but increasingly competitive.
