With memory prices under pressure, SSD discounts remain a rare pocket of relief for buyers watching the AI-driven storage crunch. Mashable said its latest roundup, updated on August 7, focuses on internal and external drives from Samsung, Lexar and Kingston, with savings reaching as much as $280.
The strongest internal deal is on Samsung’s 9100 Pro 2TB, a PCIe 5.0 NVMe drive aimed at demanding workloads such as gaming, AI tasks and graphics work. TechRadar said the model has fallen from $679.99 to $399.99 at Amazon, a 41% cut, and described it as Samsung’s first true PCIe 5.0 SSD, with sequential read speeds of up to 14,700MB/s and write speeds of 13,400MB/s. The 2TB model is down to $269.99 from $399.99, according to the article, giving buyers a $130 saving. TechRadar’s review said the drive is MagSafe-compatible, which lets it attach to supported iPhones, and praised its rugged design, IP65-rated resistance to dust and water, and strong performance for mobile video work. A separate shopping report from SeattlePI said another Lexar 2TB portable SSD is selling for $79.99 on Amazon, underlining how widely external drive prices now vary by speed, feature set and intended use.
