Early evidence suggests Google’s upcoming Proactive Assistance for the Pixel 11 may unify and enhance existing AI features like Magic Cue, offering more context-aware, task-driven support on Pixel devices.
Google appears to be preparing a new Gemini feature called Proactive Assistance for the Pixel 11, with early evidence suggesting it may be positioned as the next stage of Magic Cue rather than a completely separate idea. Android Authority said the feature has been in development since at least earlier this year and seems designed to pull relevant information from apps using what is on screen, much as Magic Cue already does on the Pixel 10 range.
The latest APK teardown also points to onboarding screens that would explain how the feature works and warn users about privacy issues around the information they share. Android Authority found those screens in version 17.47.17.sa.arm64 of the Google app, and said they are currently set to appear only on Pixel 11 hardware. That does not rule out support for older devices later, but it suggests the feature may debut first on the new phones.
The timing fits with Google’s wider push into more context-aware AI tools on Pixel. Android Central reported that Gemini screen automation has already expanded to the Pixel 10 series in the US, allowing users to complete tasks such as ordering food, booking transport and placing grocery orders through a visible virtual window that asks for approval at each step. The service currently works with apps including Lyft, Uber, Uber Eats, Grubhub, DoorDash and Starbucks, showing how Google is steadily moving Gemini from assistant duties into guided task execution.
Even so, Android Authority said its other Pixel 11 findings still refer explicitly to Magic Cue, which implies Proactive Assistance may be a rebrand or an additional layer rather than a replacement. Google’s own support pages say Gemini is the default AI assistant on Pixel 9 and later phones, while the Pixel Store description for Magic Cue says the feature is exclusive to the Pixel 10 series and surfaces relevant actions across apps, email and more. That leaves open the possibility that Google is trying to unify several overlapping features under a broader Gemini label when it unveils the Pixel 11 next week.
