xAI has launched Imagine Image 2.0, a new version of its image-generation system that is aimed less at novelty and more at practical creative work. According to TugaTech, the model is designed to produce sharper layouts, handle typography more reliably and give users more direct control over the finished image.
The most notable change is finer editing. The system can alter selected parts of an image without changing the rest, using segmentation tools to isolate precise areas for adjustment. It also adds background removal for quick transparent exports and multi-reference editing that accepts up to 5 source images in a single generation, reducing the need to rebuild compositions in external software. The platform also includes intelligent resizing that can fill a new frame automatically when an image is reformatted for a different aspect ratio. TugaTech said xAI is presenting the model as one of the strongest systems currently available for both text-to-image generation and image editing.
xAI is also using presets to simplify routine work. These pre-configured starting points are tailored to tasks such as photo retouching, product images, portraits, icons and gaming assets, so users can begin with a workflow already set up for a specific output. In the same release, the company said the model is being positioned for broader creative pipelines, including video planning, where a character, its setting and the objects it carries can be generated separately while keeping the visual style consistent across the set.
The service is already available in Quality Mode on the Grok web platform and in iOS and Android apps, with API access expected soon. Independent listings for Grok Imagine 2.0 describe it as part of xAI’s wider image and video toolset, with support for multimodal reference inputs and longer-form video generation. Earlier reports in February also said xAI had added multi-reference editing, suggesting that the current release is a continuation of a wider push to make Grok’s creative tools more controlled and production-friendly.
