Recent leaks indicate that the upcoming Pixel 11 offers modest upgrades over the Pixel 10, prompting experts to recommend buying the current model at discounted prices rather than waiting for the new release.
Google is close to unveiling the Pixel 11 series, but the latest leaks suggest the base model may not be compelling enough to justify waiting. Android Authority reported that the new phone is expected to cost $899 in the US, with that figure now tied to 256GB of storage rather than the 128GB entry point on the Pixel 10. That narrows the comparison somewhat, but the site’s assessment is that the next standard Pixel still looks like an incremental update rather than a major reset.
According to the leak-driven reporting, the Pixel 11 will keep the familiar formula while adding a Tensor G6 chip, more on-device AI processing, a 512GB option for the base model and modest gains in battery life and charging speed. Android Authority also said the main camera change appears to be improved zoom, rising from 20x to 30x, with the rest of the hardware looking broadly similar to the Pixel 10. The Pro models are expected to stand out more clearly, including a new HiLight notification light.
That leaves the Pixel 10 in a strong position. Android Authority argues that the current model already offers a rare combination for a base Pixel: a telephoto camera, Qi2 magnetic charging support, IP68 protection, a 6.3-inch display rated at up to 3,000 nits and six more years of software and security support. It also says the phone is compact, well built and close enough to the Pro experience that many buyers are unlikely to miss much by skipping the newer model.
Price is the other major factor. The site said Walmart is currently selling the 128GB Pixel 10 for $710 in one colour, with other variants at $750, while carrier and MVNO offers may push the cost even lower for buyers willing to accept contracts or plan commitments. On that basis, Android Authority’s advice is straightforward: unless the Pixel 11 proves far better than the leaks suggest, the smarter move is to buy a discounted Pixel 10 rather than pay full price for a successor that may not deliver enough to justify the wait.
