Realme is launching the budget-friendly 16X 5G in India on August 12, expanding its value-oriented 5G range with a focus on battery stamina and imaging capabilities, offering consumers new choices in the affordable segment.
Realme is set to broaden its budget 5G range in India with the Realme 16X 5G, due to launch on August 12, while the already available Realme 16 5G gives buyers an earlier benchmark for comparison. The two handsets target the same value-conscious audience, but they split their priorities in different ways: one leans towards endurance and thermals, the other towards display quality and imaging. According to the launch details, pricing for the 16X 5G will be disclosed at the event, while the 16 5G is already on sale at known price points.
The Realme 16X 5G is expected to centre on stamina. Its 6.84-inch IPS LCD panel is tipped to offer full-HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, alongside MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 chip and vapour chamber cooling. The phone is also said to include a 50-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera and a 7,000mAh battery with 45W charging and bypass charging, a feature that can reduce heat during gaming or long video sessions.
By contrast, the Realme 16 5G takes a more premium-leaning approach for a similar budget. Realme has already confirmed an April 2 launch in India, and the phone has since gone on sale. Reports from Gizmochina, The Tech Outlook, Mobigyaan and Gadgets 360 describe it as a content-focused model with a flexible AMOLED screen, a 50-megapixel selfie camera, a rear selfie mirror, ring flash support and AI imaging tools aimed at easier framing and low-light photography. The handset is also said to use a 7,000mAh battery, 60W charging, a slim 8.1mm body and an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.
The photography hardware is where the two models diverge most sharply. The 16X 5G is positioned as the more practical device, with AI tools such as eraser and clarity features meant to simplify everyday shooting. The 16 5G, meanwhile, is built around self-portrait and creator use cases, with a stronger front camera, more elaborate imaging features and a more refined display. For many buyers, that makes the choice less about raw specification overlap and more about whether battery life or screen and camera output matter more.
In India, the Realme 16 5G starts at Rs. 31,999 for the 8GB+128GB version, rises to Rs. 35,000 for the 8GB+256GB model and goes up to Rs. 36,999 for the 12GB+256GB variant. The Realme 16X 5G will not have an official price until launch day. Bajaj Finance is also promoting Easy EMI Loan options for both phones, including zero down payment on select models, monthly instalments from Rs. 830 and tenures from 3 to 60 months. The financing offer may make the decision easier for shoppers weighing a proven model against a new arrival.
