Elecom has slashed the price of its compact 45W GaN II USB-C charger in Japan, now available for ¥1,990, promising a portable solution for charging both phones and laptops simultaneously with efficiency and safety standards.
Amazon is discounting Elecom’s EC-AC10945BK, a compact 45W USB-C charger with two ports, to ¥1,990, down from a previous price of ¥2,290. The promotion, which was listed in Japan on August 7, is aimed at buyers who want one charger for both a phone and a laptop without carrying separate adapters.
The charger uses GaN II, or gallium nitride, a semiconductor material that helps shrink power supplies while keeping heat and size in check. Elecom says the unit supports USB Power Delivery and PPS, a charging standard that allows devices to draw power more efficiently. Each USB-C port can deliver up to 45W, which is enough for devices such as a MacBook Air or a high-end smartphone.
Elecom also says the charger can power two devices at once, with output split between the ports for simultaneous charging. That makes it useful for users who want to top up two phones together, or charge a laptop and a tablet from a single wall socket. The company’s compatibility information includes iPhone 15 models, and it notes that a suitable cable is still required.
The design is also travel-friendly. The plug folds away and the body is small enough to fit in a pocket or a compact bag. Elecom lists the charger as PSE certified, which indicates compliance with Japanese safety standards. A white version is also available, while another model in the same 45W family swaps one USB-C port for USB-A. Price and availability can change, so buyers should check Amazon before ordering.
