Xiaomi unveils the Redmi Note 17 5G featuring a 6.9-inch AMOLED display, a 8,000mAh battery, and the latest Snapdragon chip, aiming to lead in endurance and value within the crowded mid-range market.
Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Note 17 5G, pitching it at the crowded mid-range segment with a large AMOLED display, a 4nm Snapdragon chip and a battery that is unusually large for the class. The launch information published by Elfagr says the device is meant to compete on endurance and value rather than on premium design or flagship-grade cameras, while third-party listings from PhoneArena and 91mobiles broadly match the core hardware profile.
The phone centres on a 6.9-inch AMOLED TrueColor panel with a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate, DCI-P3 colour support and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. PhoneArena and 91mobiles describe it as a 7-inch OLED screen, which appears to be the same panel rounded to the nearest figure. Xiaomi has also added touch-enhancement features and a protective layer, alongside a large graphite-based cooling system to help control heat under sustained use.
Inside, the Redmi Note 17 5G uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and support for virtual RAM expansion. Storage can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 2TB. The camera set-up is modest: a 50-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front camera. The software package is Android 16 with HyperOS 3, and Xiaomi says it will provide four major Android upgrades and six years of security patches.
Battery life is the main selling point. Xiaomi has fitted an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, supported by 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging for topping up other devices. The phone also includes IP65 protection, an in-display fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers. It comes in black, light blue and purple, with the 6GB/128GB model priced at about $300 in the launch materials. According to Elfagr, initial sales are due to begin in India on August 13 through Xiaomi’s own store, while no official Egyptian launch date or local price has been announced.
