Motorola is set to launch the Moto G Max in India on August 14, promising up to three days of battery life on a budget, while reusing existing hardware in a regional adaptation of the device.
Motorola will launch the Moto G Max in India on August 14, positioning it as a budget phone with a strong battery focus and the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip. The company says the handset can last up to three days on a full charge, a claim that points to endurance rather than high-performance ambitions.
The model announced for India is not the same as the Moto G Max Motorola introduced in Brazil in June. In that market, the company used the name for a different device, while the Indian version appears to be a renamed Moto G57 Power, sharing both the processor and the 7,000mAh battery. That suggests Motorola is reusing an existing hardware platform for a new regional launch rather than introducing a wholly new design.
Motorola has said the phone will have a 6.72-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,050 nits in high-brightness mode. The camera set-up includes a 50-megapixel main rear camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 32-megapixel front camera. Other confirmed features include IP64 protection, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, LPDDR5X memory, UFS 3.1 storage and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The company has not yet disclosed pricing. Even so, the Moto G Max is expected to sit in the affordable end of the market, given that the closely related Moto G57 Power launched at about $145. If Motorola keeps the price near that level, the new phone could appeal to buyers prioritising battery life, basic durability and headline features over premium build or top-end performance.
