SoundPEATS has launched the UU2, a lightweight, open-ear clip-on wireless earbud with improved bass, Bluetooth 6.0, and up to 42 hours of battery life, targeting users seeking comfort and awareness in their listening experience.
SOUNDPEATS is pushing further into open-ear audio with the UU2, also sold as the Pop Clip 2, a clip-on wireless earbud aimed at people who want more comfort and more awareness of their surroundings than conventional in-ear models can offer. The design leaves the ear canal open while positioning the drivers towards it, which should suit commuters, runners, office users and anyone who dislikes the sealed feeling of traditional earbuds.
According to ecoustics, the company is also trying to address one of the main weaknesses of open-ear products: weak low end. The UU2 uses a 12mm titanium-coated dual-magnet dynamic driver and SOUNDPEATS’ DynamicEQ processing, which adjusts bass output in real time. The firm says that combination is meant to deliver fuller and more engaging sound than many listeners expect from an ear-clip format.
The hardware specification is notably broad for a sub-$50 model. SOUNDPEATS says the UU2 includes Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint support, LDAC and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification, plus physical buttons instead of touch controls. It also has two microphones per earbud for call handling, AI-assisted noise reduction and a privacy mode designed to limit sound leakage in quieter places. Battery life is rated at up to 10 hours from the earbuds themselves and up to 42 hours including the charging case, with a 10-minute top-up said to provide about two hours of playback.
Comfort remains central to the pitch. Each earbud weighs about 5 grams and uses a U-shaped bridge with a skin-friendly coating intended to improve stability across different ear shapes. That matters because the open-ear category is expanding largely on the promise of all-day wearability rather than isolation. The UU2 is priced at $49.99 in the United States and 7,280 yen in Japan, placing it below some earlier SOUNDPEATS clip-on models while adding a more capable feature set.
