Philips expands its Ambilight range in the US with a new QLED model designed for brighter pictures and immersive viewing, targeting film, sport, gaming, and streaming audiences.
Philips Television has added a new QLED model to its Ambilight range in the US, saying the set is designed to deliver brighter pictures, stronger colour reproduction and a more immersive viewing effect. The company said the TV combines quantum-dot display technology with its rear lighting system, which mirrors on-screen colours on the wall behind the set. SKYWORTH USA, which sells Philips-branded televisions in North America, said the product is intended for films, sport, gaming and streaming. The set will go on sale in 50-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch versions through Amazon and BJ’s Wholesale Club from August 11, 2026.
The new model arrives as Philips broadens its 2026 television line-up across several display technologies. Industry coverage of the wider range has focused mainly on the company’s OLED and Mini LED sets, including models with higher peak brightness, faster refresh rates and support for newer Dolby Vision formats. In that context, the QLED Ambilight set appears to be a more mainstream addition to the portfolio rather than the flagship launch of the year.
Philips is continuing to place Ambilight at the centre of its TV strategy. The lighting system, which has long been one of the brand’s main selling points in Europe, is now being paired with a wider spread of panel types and smart-TV platforms. Recent reports on the 2026 line-up say the company is also using new features to coordinate the TV with connected room lighting, suggesting Philips is trying to turn the television into a broader ambient-entertainment hub rather than a standalone screen.
The US launch also follows a gradual expansion of Philips-branded Ambilight products in the American market. Earlier coverage noted that the company had begun offering Ambilight Roku TVs in the US, but those models were limited to smaller sizes and more basic HDR support. The new QLED series moves the range upmarket with larger screens and more advanced picture hardware, although Philips has not yet disclosed pricing.
