The Chinese tech giant plans a flurry of launches in India from September through December 2026, including the Redmi 17, Redmi Note 17 Pro, and the upcoming Xiaomi 18 series, signalling a strategic push into the competitive market.
Xiaomi is preparing a crowded second half of 2026 in India, with new leaks pointing to launches across its Redmi and flagship lines within a few months of one another. The strongest signals suggest the company will begin with the Redmi 17 range, add a Redmi Note 17 Pro model shortly after and then bring the Xiaomi 18 Pro family to India before the end of the year.
According to a post on X by tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Redmi 17 series is expected to arrive on September 5, followed by the Redmi Note 17 Pro series on September 18 or September 20. That would extend the Redmi Note 17 family beyond the standard model, which Xiaomi has already introduced in India earlier this month. Reports from LiveMint and AndroidPure say Xiaomi has confirmed the Redmi Note 17’s Indian launch for August 6, with an 8,000mAh battery, while earlier leaks from Gizmochina pointed to a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant for India, plus Blue and Dark Night colour options.
The Redmi 17 line is already on sale in select overseas markets, which gives a clearer idea of what Xiaomi may be preparing for India. The range includes 5G and 4G variants, both with 6.9-inch HD+ screens at 120Hz, 50-megapixel rear cameras and 7,500mAh batteries. The 5G version uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chip, while the 4G model runs on MediaTek’s Helio G91-Ultra. Both support 45W wired charging and ship with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
The more significant development may be Xiaomi’s flagship timing. Gizmochina, Notebookcheck and Technosports all report that the Xiaomi 18 series could reach India in December 2026, earlier than Xiaomi’s usual flagship window. Those reports also say the line-up may be reduced to standard, Pro and limited Pro Max models, with the Ultra variant reportedly dropped. That would mark a shift from the Xiaomi 17 launch in India in March 2026, when Xiaomi introduced the Ultra model but not the Pro versions. Yadav’s post adds one more detail: the Xiaomi 18 Pro series is said to feature a small secondary display on the rear.
