Fire-Boltt's impending launch of AI-powered budget smartphones shakes up India’s entry-level segment

Fire-Boltt is set to disrupt India’s budget smartphone market with its Made-in-India models, featuring advanced AI imaging and Google integration, as it aims to compete in the affordable segment through Flipkart and retail channels.

Fire-Boltt is preparing to enter India’s smartphone market with two budget models, the Boltt Evo 4G and Boltt Ace 5G, with launch scheduled for August 25, 2026. The company is positioning the new line as a Made-in-India offering aimed at entry-level buyers, extending its business beyond wearables into handsets.

According to the company’s recent disclosures, the Ace 5G will carry a 64-megapixel AI rear camera while the Evo 4G will use a 50-megapixel AI rear camera. Both phones are said to include an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. Fire-Boltt has also said Google’s AI imaging features, including Face Unblur, will be built into the devices.

The software package is expected to go beyond photography. Fire-Boltt says Google Gemini will be used to support object identification, text translation, product searches and contextual queries through Circle to Search and Google Lens. The phones are also expected to include AI Night Mode for brighter low-light images and scene optimisation intended to adjust output across different shooting conditions.

The broader strategy appears to centre on affordability and scale. Reports from technology publications say the new boltt brand will be split into Evo and Ace families, cover both 4G and 5G models and be sold through Flipkart in India, with some reports also pointing to wider retail distribution. One leak reported by Gadgets 360 suggested the Evo 4G could be powered by a Unisoc T7250 chip and 4GB of RAM, while other reports said the initial models are being aimed at the ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 segment. Fire-Boltt’s move comes as several domestic and international brands compete aggressively in India’s lower-priced smartphone market, where camera hardware, AI features and local manufacturing are increasingly part of the sales pitch.
