Flexible AMOLED panels are making their way into the upper mid-range smartphone market, offering designs that combine premium looks with stronger protection, high refresh rates, and advanced camera systems, as brands innovate to meet consumer demand.
Curved displays have not disappeared from the smartphone market. VIVA says the shape, once associated mainly with expensive flagships, is now filtering into upper mid-range and premium-mid-range phones as flexible AMOLED panels become cheaper to produce. That shift matters because it allows manufacturers to sell handsets that look and feel more expensive while pairing the design with higher refresh rates, larger batteries, faster charging and stronger water and dust protection.
Among the more balanced options is the vivo V50, which VIVA highlights for its 6.77-inch quad-curved AMOLED screen, 120Hz refresh rate and a strong focus on photography. The phone combines a 6,000mAh battery with 90W charging and a camera system built around a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilisation, plus a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 50-megapixel autofocus front camera. VIVA also notes ZEISS tuning, which may appeal to buyers who want a more camera-centric device.
VIVA also points to the HONOR 400 Pro and the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G as two models that push the curved-screen formula in different directions. The HONOR pairs a 6.7-inch quad-curved AMOLED panel with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6,000mAh battery and 100W charging, alongside a 200-megapixel main camera and AI features. The Redmi takes a more durability-led approach, with a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 3,200 nits and the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. Android Authority says the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus also uses a fibreglass back for added impact resistance, while supporting 100W wired charging, a 200-megapixel camera and IP-rated protection against dust and water.
Motorola’s Edge 60 Pro is another example of how curved screens are being tied to durability rather than just appearance. TechRadar says the phone has a 6.7-inch pOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 4,500 nits, a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme processor, a 6,000mAh battery and 90W wired charging. Its camera array includes a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. TechRadar also reports an IP68 rating, which gives the device an additional selling point for buyers who want a more premium-looking handset without giving up practical protection.
