Huawei launches its camera-focused Pura 90s series in the Philippines, highlighted by the industry-first 200MP RYYB telephoto sensor on the Pro Max, alongside advanced AI photography features and rapid charging.
Huawei has brought its latest Pura 90s series to the Philippines, positioning the line as a camera-first flagship family with prices starting at PHP 54,999. The local launch follows the phone’s earlier introduction in China in April and a wider global rollout in July, underlining Huawei’s effort to keep the Pura line focused on imaging while broadening its reach beyond home markets.
The top-end Pura 90s Pro Max is the main photography headline. Reports from Reframed, Gizmochina, GizGuide and Notebookcheck say it uses what Huawei describes as the world’s first 200MP RYYB periscope telephoto sensor, built on a 1/1.28-inch sensor with 4x optical zoom. The same reporting says the phone pairs that module with a 50MP main camera and a 40MP ultra-wide lens, while the Pro Max also supports telephoto macro shooting and up to 20x telephoto video. The Pura 90s Pro uses a more conventional camera setup, but still keeps a 50MP main sensor and telephoto hardware aimed at long-range shooting.
Huawei is also leaning heavily on software. The company says the series uses AI composition guidance to help users frame shots, while editing tools can remove glare, move subjects and fill in the background after an object is repositioned. The phones also include a 2nd Gen True-to-Colour Camera, which Huawei says is designed to capture a broader range of colours with greater accuracy. In practical terms, the pitch is that the handset should not just record more detail, but also produce images that are closer to what the eye sees.
Design remains central to the Pura range. Huawei says the new Rhythm of Colour language brings flat edges, layered finishes and brighter colour options to the Pro Max and Pro models. The hardware is backed by a 6,000mAh battery, with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging on the Pro Max, while the Pro supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. Huawei also says the Pro Max uses Kunlun Glass with anti-reflection and scratch-resistant properties, and that the series supports 5G, Celia AI and cross-platform file sharing with iOS devices.
In the Philippines, the Pura 90s Pro Max 512GB is priced at PHP 79,999, while the Pura 90s Pro comes in at PHP 54,999 for 256GB and PHP 64,999 for 512GB. Huawei is offering pre-order incentives until August 19, including bank discounts, a WATCH FIT 4 and other bundled extras, with separate online vouchers available through the company’s store and marketplace partners. Huawei is also using the launch to promote the XMAGE Awards 2026, which remain open for submissions until August 16.
