Google drops hints of its upcoming Pixel 11 Pro, featuring the first mainstream 2nm processor and innovative features, as the tech giant prepares for its August 12 launch event alongside the new Pixel Watch 5.
Google has begun building interest ahead of its August 12 launch event with a second teaser, this time aimed at the Pixel 11 Pro. After last week’s playful preview for the Pixel Watch 5, the new clip takes a lighter approach to the phone itself, framing the device as an “11” on a scale that is supposed to stop at 10. The timing is no accident: Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 11 family and its new smartwatch at the same event, with invitations already out and the company’s next flagship phones now firmly in the spotlight.
The Pixel 11 line is widely expected to include the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, all reportedly powered by Tensor G6. Several reports suggest the chip will be built on TSMC’s 2nm process, which would make it the first mainstream smartphone processor to use that manufacturing node. That would be a significant technical step for Google, particularly if it delivers the promised gains in efficiency and heat management. However, the advantage may be brief: MediaTek and Qualcomm are both expected to bring their own 2nm chips to market soon afterwards.
Leaks and early reports have also filled in some of the likely hardware changes. TechRadar says the base Pixel 11 could start at $899 and may come in new colour options such as Midnight, Fuchsia and Moss. It also points to a new “HiLight” feature that could make the phone visibly glow when it is face down to highlight calls or messages from favourite contacts. Other reports suggest the Pro models may begin with 12GB of RAM rather than 16GB, while the base phone could keep only two rear cameras. At the same time, the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL are said to gain a 120x AI-assisted digital zoom mode, up from the previous 100x ceiling.
Tom’s Guide reports that the Pixel 11 Pro may keep much of the Pixel 10 Pro’s display and camera layout, including a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED panel and a triple-camera setup, while moving to the new Tensor G6 platform. The same report says Google could switch from Samsung’s modem to MediaTek’s M90 for better connectivity and improved battery efficiency. It also suggests that base storage may double to 256GB, although the entry configuration could drop to 12GB of RAM. If those details prove accurate, the new Pro model will be less about a wholesale redesign and more about targeted changes to performance, storage, charging and on-device AI.
