Fliggy unveils advanced AI assistant capable of managing complex travel tasks

Alibaba’s Fliggy launches a upgraded AI assistant built on Alibaba’s Qwen model, enabling multi-step travel management and proactive support, boosting usability and speed.

Fliggy, the Alibaba-owned online travel platform, has introduced an upgraded AI assistant that it says can do far more than suggest itineraries. The new version is built on Alibaba’s Qwen model and tied to Fliggy’s real-time transaction systems and proprietary travel data, giving it what the company describes as an agentic design that can handle multi-step tasks such as changing bookings, checking hotel availability and negotiating upgrade requests on a user’s behalf. Fliggy says the system now uses a streamlined multi-agent architecture that brings specialist functions into one interface, while improved memory is intended to combine long-term preferences with immediate trip needs. Embedded across the app, from the home screen to individual hotel pages, the assistant can take instructions by voice or text and is meant to work alongside standard booking flows rather than replace them. According to Fliggy data, usability scores for the upgraded assistant are more than 70% higher than in the previous version, while comparable tasks are completed nearly 10% faster. Fliggy chief technology officer Alex Chen said the update marks “a meaningful step in bringing AI capabilities into the physical world” and argued that the technology is moving from reactive help towards more proactive support across the travel journey.
