A new leak shared on X has given the clearest look yet at ColorOS 17, the next major software update expected for OPPO phones and, if recent reports are correct, for OnePlus and Realme devices as well. Nokiapoweruser said the clip offers an early view of the interface direction, while other tech outlets described the build as an Android 17-based update centred on design changes, smoother motion and broader AI features. The leak arrives as developer testing for Android 17 is already under way.
The most visible shift appears to be a softer, more layered design language. The leaked footage points to translucent panels, glow effects, revised quick settings and a lock screen that can surface live widgets for music, fitness and timers. That approach resembles the glass-like styling now spreading across the industry, although Beebom reported that OPPO’s design chief has said ColorOS 17 will not fully adopt a Liquid Glass look because of readability and usability concerns. The emphasis, then, seems to be refinement rather than a wholesale visual overhaul.
Performance is also expected to be a major part of the update. According to the leak coverage from Gizmochina and Notebookcheck, ColorOS 17 is said to bring smoother animations, better camera transitions and deeper system tuning aimed at reducing stutter during multitasking. AndroidPure and Business Standard reported that OnePlus and Realme are preparing to move to ColorOS 17 from OxygenOS and Realme UI, respectively, which would make the update more than a skin refresh: it would become the shared software base across three closely linked brands.
