As beach season heats up, Hardware Upgrade highlights a range of discounted tech and safety gear on Amazon, from inflatable SUP boards to waterproof headphones and action cams, designed to enhance water fun while prioritising safety.
As summer travel and beach season gather pace, Hardware Upgrade has drawn up a practical list of discounted gadgets on Amazon designed to make time by the water easier, safer and more entertaining. The selection ranges from fitness wearables and underwater cameras to wireless headphones, electric water toys and compact pumps for inflatable kit.
The most useful category is not necessarily the most glamorous. Hardware Upgrade points to a 320 cm inflatable SUP board sold for €169, noting that it comes with a paddle, pump, backpack and other accessories. The board is 15 cm thick and, according to the publication’s review, supports loads of up to 150 kg, which makes it a more capable option than thinner entry-level boards.
Safety also features prominently. The site recommends an adult life jacket priced at under €50, arguing that buyers should not cut corners on flotation gear when using SUPs or any other water equipment. That warning is a reminder that low-cost leisure products can be poor value if they compromise protection in the event of fatigue, illness or an accident.
For more active use on the water, Hardware Upgrade highlights Nilox’s Waterboard, an electric board listed at €292.07. It weighs 2.6 kg, works at depths of up to 2 metres, offers three speed settings and is said to run for as long as 60 minutes on its 37V, 2.5Ah battery. The publication presents it as a way to add assisted movement to swimming and shallow-water exploration in the sea or a pool.
A second Nilox device, the Waterscooter, is aimed at underwater use rather than surface riding. Priced at €455.99, it can dive to 5 metres, reaches speeds of up to 5 km/h and offers up to 60 minutes of runtime at low speed or 30 minutes at high speed. Hardware Upgrade says it is also compatible with standard three-fin SUP fittings, which broadens its appeal for snorkelling and powered board use.
The practical side of beach set-up gets attention too. A battery-powered inflator with a 5,200 mAh battery is being sold for €26.99. Hardware Upgrade says it delivers 15W of power and 400 litres of air per minute, enough to inflate or deflate mattresses, rings and beach toys quickly, with three nozzles included for different valve sizes.
Other items on the list are aimed at comfort and connectivity rather than water sports. Soundcore’s P20i true wireless earphones, rated IPX5 for splash resistance, are priced at €22.99 and offer up to 30 hours of playback with their charging case. The JBL Live 670 NC on-ear headphones, meanwhile, are discounted to €59.99 from €129.99 and combine active noise cancellation, Bluetooth 5.3 multipoint support and a claimed 65 hours of battery life.
For readers who want wearables or action cameras, Hardware Upgrade also includes the Amazfit Active 3 Premium smartwatch at €139 and the DJI Osmo Nano Combo Standard at €313.50. The Amazfit model is pitched at runners, with GPS, offline maps, more than 170 sport modes and up to 12 days of battery life. DJI’s camera has a 1/1.3-inch sensor, 4K recording at 60 frames per second, 128GB of storage and water resistance to 10 metres, making it suitable for handheld vlogs and point-of-view footage at the beach.
