Samsung has released its latest Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 models, offering attractive launch-time discounts, upgraded battery life, advanced health monitoring, and improved connectivity features, signalling a focus on personalised health insights and outdoor reliability.
Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 have gone on sale with launch-time incentives that make the first days of availability more attractive for buyers looking to upgrade. According to Phonandroid, Samsung began offering the watches on 7 August and paired the release with discounts that can be stacked through its own shop, including promo codes, payment-based reductions and short-term extras such as a 60-day money-back period and two free months of Strava Premium.
The smaller Galaxy Watch 9 is positioned as the more everyday option. Samsung says the case is 8.6 mm thick and uses a new dynamic attachment system designed to improve fit and keep the sensors steadier against the wrist. The watch runs on the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, which the company says improves speed while extending battery life to as much as 40 hours. It also adds heart score tracking alongside energy score, sleep and running coaching, cardio load monitoring and alerts for possible signs of sleep apnoea. Samsung’s health focus is consistent with its wider Watch range, where newer models build on sleep coaching, activity tracking and navigation tools.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is aimed at users who want a more rugged flagship. Samsung has increased battery capacity to 800 mAh, which it says delivers up to 60 hours of use, while fast charging can recover 40% in 30 minutes. The watch has a 1.52-inch Super AMOLED display rated at up to 5,000 nits, which should help visibility in bright conditions. It also carries IP69K, 10 ATM and EN13319 certifications, making it suitable for swimming and diving. Samsung says it tracks depth, immersion time and water temperature, while a new trail mode records elevation changes and route progress in real time.
On connectivity, SamMobile reported that both watches are among Samsung’s first smartwatches to support Bluetooth 6.0 and Wi-Fi 6, enabled by the new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, along with dual-band GPS for more accurate location tracking. That points to a broader shift in the range towards stronger wireless performance and better outdoor reliability. Samsung’s global newsroom has framed the launch as part of a push to turn biometric data into more practical health guidance, with the company emphasising continuous wear, personalised insights and more detailed monitoring across daily activity and recovery.
