Leaked details reveal TCL’s latest models aiming for a premium aesthetic and eye-friendly display technology without flagship prices, featuring slim bezels and large OLED screens.
TCL appears to be preparing two new mid-range smartphones, the P80 and P80 Pro, with early leaks suggesting a close visual link to the TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro. The reported design uses a flat plastic frame and an oval camera island with two sensors, while the headline feature is the unusually slim display bezel on all four sides. According to the leak, TCL is aiming at a premium look without moving into flagship pricing.
Pricing reported so far places the standard P80 at about $347 and the P80 Pro at about $404, a relatively small jump for what looks like a more capable model. The Pro version is said to add a side slider button, which may switch the screen into NxtPaper mode or silence notifications. TCL has already used the NxtPaper name on devices designed to reduce glare and fingerprints, so the button would fit that product line’s focus on eye comfort and display control.
On the hardware side, the base P80 is said to use a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Elite chip, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of flash storage and a 5,000mAh battery. Camera specifications reportedly include a 32-megapixel front camera, a 50-megapixel main rear camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The P80 Pro is said to move up to a Dimensity 7400 Elite processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a 5,800mAh battery, while keeping the same camera setup.
The clearest difference between the two models may be the display. The P80 Pro is reported to carry a 6.83-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2,766 x 1,280 pixels and NxtPaper mode, while the display details for the standard model remain unconfirmed. If accurate, the P80 Pro would sit in a crowded segment where rivals such as the Realme Narzo 80 Pro pair Dimensity 7400-class silicon with OLED screens and large batteries, showing how aggressively priced the upper mid-range market has become.
