Xiaomi Indonesia has hinted at the launch of the Redmi 17 featuring a substantial 7,500mAh battery, with a design closer to the Malaysian global model, signalling variations across markets ahead of an upcoming release.
Xiaomi Indonesia has signalled that the Redmi 17 is set for launch in the country, using an Instagram teaser that highlighted the phone’s 7,500mAh battery. The company has not yet given a launch date, but the post suggests the handset will arrive soon and that it may not be the same as the version sold in China. According to JagatReview, the teaser also points to a design closer to the global model seen in Malaysia rather than the Chinese version.
That distinction matters because Xiaomi has already taken different approaches to the Redmi 17 across markets. In China, the phone was introduced quietly and sold directly through Xiaomi’s website. In Malaysia, Thailand and Italy, the global version arrived with revised styling and a different specification mix. JagatReview said the Indonesian teaser appears to match the Malaysian design, including the patterned rear finish associated with the 4G variant.
If Xiaomi follows the global line-up, Indonesia could get one or both of the Redmi 17 4G and Redmi 17 5G models. In Malaysia, both versions use a 6.9-inch IPS LCD screen with 720 x 1,600 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch-sampling rate. The 5G model is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, while the 4G version uses MediaTek’s Helio G91-Ultra. Both carry a 50MP main camera, an 8MP front camera, 45W charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.
The battery is the headline feature. Xiaomi Malaysia lists a 7,500mAh cell for both versions, which aligns with Xiaomi Indonesia’s teaser. Pricing in Malaysia starts at 669 ringgit, or about Rp2.9 million, for the 4G model and 769 ringgit, or about Rp3.3 million, for the 5G model. The broader Redmi Note 17 family has also recently launched in China with larger batteries and new designs, but the Chinese models differ from the global phones, underlining how Xiaomi is tailoring the series by market.
