Amazon discounts make the iPhone 17’s lowest-ever price more appealing amid market uncertainties

Amazon is offering the iPhone 17 at a notably reduced price of €889 for the 256GB black model, stirring market speculation about potential upcoming price adjustments by Apple in response to rising memory costs, despite no official price change announced.

Apple’s iPhone 17 has become the standard-bearer for the current range since its September 2025 launch, bringing a 6.3-inch ProMotion screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate to the base model and introducing the A19 chip. According to Ars Technica and 9to5Mac, the handset starts at 256GB, uses a 48MP main camera and an 18MP front camera with Center Stage support, and is sold in five finishes: lavender, blue, white, black and sage.

That makes the current Amazon offer on the 256GB black version notable. Clubic says the handset is listed at €889, which is €80 below Apple’s official €969 price, while Edcom reported in April that the same model had fallen to that level in what it described as the lowest price yet seen for the phone. In a market where iPhone prices are often tightly controlled, even a modest discount can be enough to sway buyers who were already planning an upgrade.

The timing matters because Apple has not confirmed any iPhone price rise, but Clubic says speculation has intensified after memory price pressure already affected Macs and iPads in June and iPhones sold in Japan in July. That does not amount to a formal change in Apple’s pricing strategy, but it does explain why some buyers may prefer to lock in a known retail price now rather than wait for the next cycle of adjustments. Earlier coverage from Smartworld and HWUpgrade also showed Amazon repeatedly cutting the 256GB model in 2026, which suggests the discounts have been time-sensitive rather than permanent.
