Lava Agni 4 disrupts mid-range market with flagship-like features and extended software support

Lava has launched the Agni 4, a mid-range device packed with high-end features such as a 120Hz AMOLED display, 50-megapixel cameras, and four years of security updates, challenging the segment’s norms and offering new value to consumers.

Lava has brought the Agni 4 to market as a mid-range handset that aims to offer several features usually associated with more expensive devices. The Indian manufacturer has paired a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution, while also adding an in-display fingerprint reader and IP64 protection against dust and splashes, according to launch reports from Notebookcheck, Business Standard and Mint.

Under the hood, the phone uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 8350 chip, alongside 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256GB of storage. Lava’s own product material says the handset uses UFS 4.0 flash storage, which should improve app loading and file transfer speeds compared with slower storage types. The company also highlights a cooling system designed to help sustain performance during prolonged heavy use.

Camera hardware is another key part of the pitch. The Agni 4 combines a 50-megapixel main camera with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, while the front camera is also 50 megapixels. Lava says the phone can record 4K video at 60 frames per second, a specification that puts it in line with many better-known rivals in the segment. Official launch material also confirms the inclusion of Bluetooth 5.4, stereo speakers and Vayu AI, the company’s own assistant.

Power comes from a 5,000mAh battery with 66W wired charging, and the software package is Android 15. Lava says buyers will get three major Android upgrades and four years of security patches, which is a meaningful commitment for a device at this price point. The phone is priced at ₹22,999 in official material, although some reports have listed a slightly higher launch price of ₹24,999, suggesting differences in market or retailer positioning. According to the company and multiple launch reports, the device went on sale in India through Amazon on November 25, 2025.
