TrustKernel launches PlugClaw, a compact private AI computer designed to perform complex tasks across devices while safeguarding sensitive data, marking a significant step in decentralising AI workflows.
TrustKernel has introduced PlugClaw, a thumb-sized private AI computer that the company says is designed to let users hand over real tasks to AI without putting their main phone or laptop at risk. The launch extends TrustKernel’s earlier PlugOS and PlugMate hardware into a product aimed at agentic AI, where software does not just respond to prompts but can act across apps and workflows.
According to TrustKernel, PlugClaw is a self-contained USB-C device with its own processor, memory and encrypted storage, running a hardened version of Android called PlugOS. When connected to a phone, tablet or computer, the host device is used only as a display and input layer, while the AI workspace, data and execution environment remain inside the stick itself. The company says the device is compatible with Android phones, iPhones, iPads, Windows PCs, Macs and Linux machines.
TrustKernel is pitching the product as a way to close a gap between cloud AI and local AI. It argues that cloud services can require users to expose sensitive credentials and private data, while fully local systems may lack the model quality needed for complex work. PlugClaw is intended to balance those trade-offs by keeping sensitive material inside its isolated environment while using confidential cloud computing for frontier models when needed.
The company says the built-in agent can open apps, read information, respond to messages, organise files, prepare presentations, browse the web and run multi-step workflows. Tasks can be triggered immediately, scheduled for later or started automatically when certain events occur. TrustKernel says the same workspace, with its apps, memory and skills, can follow the user across devices.
“According to TrustKernel, the AI that does your work should be the AI that keeps your data yours,” founder and chief executive Wenhao Li said in the announcement. The product goes on sale worldwide at $149, with no required subscription, and includes at least $15 in AI credits. TrustKernel says PlugClaw is aimed at everyday AI users, privacy-conscious professionals and developers who want portable automation without giving a phone or computer deeper permissions.
