Google has shifted the Pixel 11 Pro line upmarket with new design features, enhanced hardware, and a substantial price increase, signalling a focus on premium performance and distinctive aesthetics.
Google has moved the Pixel 11 Pro line upmarket with a clear message: higher component costs are now being passed directly to buyers. The new generation drops the 128GB entry model entirely, making 256GB the new starting point, and that shift brings an estimated $100 increase across the range. In Malaysia, that translates into a projected entry price of roughly RM5,199 to RM5,499 for the Pixel 11 Pro, with the Pro XL expected to sit nearer RM5,899 to RM6,299.
The hardware changes go beyond storage. Google’s new Pixel Glow feature, also described in some reports as HiLight, replaces the familiar rear temperature sensor and adds an RGB notification light built into the camera bar. Leaked images published by Android Central showed a matte black finish and the updated light treatment, while a separate teaser highlighted a fully glass-covered camera strip and coloured pulses intended to flag notifications when the phone is placed face down. The result is a more distinctive rear design, though one that may divide opinion.
Performance is also a central part of the pitch. According to the launch details and later coverage from Cinco Días, the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL use Google’s Tensor G6 chip, built on TSMC’s 2nm process, alongside memory options of 12GB or 16GB and storage up to 1TB. Google has also shifted to a MediaTek M90 5G modem, a move that is meant to improve connectivity and reduce the heat and battery issues that have dogged earlier Pixel models.
The display and camera package are pitched firmly at the premium end. The Pixel 11 Pro uses a 6.3-inch Super Actua OLED panel, while the Pro XL stretches to 6.8 inches, both with refresh rates of up to 120Hz and peak brightness of 3,600 nits, according to the reports. Cinco Días said the rear camera system pairs a 50MP main sensor with ultra-wide and telephoto lenses, offering 5x optical zoom and up to 120x Pro zoom, while the front camera is rated at 42MP. Battery life is also being framed as a strength, with support for fast charging and wireless charging up to 25W.
Google’s wider Pixel 11 family appears to follow the same pattern of refinement rather than reinvention. PhoneArena reported that the range was scheduled around Google’s Made by Google event in New York on August 12, 2026, with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold likely to arrive later than the slab phones. Android Central also suggested that the foldable keeps a familiar design language, adding only modest visual changes. Taken together, the line looks less like a radical reset and more like Google trying to justify a higher price with fewer compromises.
