Google Pixel Watch 5 enhances health features and storage without a redesign

Google unveils the Pixel Watch 5, boasting improved health tracking, increased storage, and a focus on software upgrades, while maintaining its familiar circular design.

Google has unveiled the Pixel Watch 5 alongside its latest Pixel phones, keeping the familiar round design while adding a stronger focus on software, health tracking and battery life. According to Oficina da Net, the new premium smartwatch arrives in two sizes and introduces Wear OS 7, with Gemini built in as a personal assistant.

The watch continues with a circular AMOLED display, but Google has doubled internal storage to 64 GB, which should give owners more room for apps, music and podcasts stored directly on the device. The screen is rated at up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, a level intended to improve visibility outdoors. PhoneArena and TechRadar both said earlier reports had pointed to a familiar design language and incremental hardware changes rather than a full visual redesign.

Google is also leaning heavily on health and safety features. The company says the Pixel Watch 5 offers its most accurate sleep tracking yet on a Pixel Watch, and it includes SpO2 monitoring, ECG, skin temperature sensing and loss-of-pulse detection. Google’s own Pixel Watch help pages list the platform’s broader sensor and durability capabilities, which frame the new model as an extension of the existing health-focused product line.

Battery capacity has been nudged up as well, with the 41 mm model rising to 332 mAh and the 45 mm version to 465 mAh. Both sizes come in Wi-Fi and LTE versions, with Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, UWB, GPS, IP68 protection and 5 ATM water resistance. Oficina da Net reported US pricing from $399 for the 41 mm Wi-Fi model to $529 for the 45 mm LTE model, while also noting that Google has not confirmed a Brazilian launch. Android Central and Tom’s Guide had previously reported that the Pixel Watch 5 was expected to arrive with further refinements to connectivity and health features rather than a radical hardware overhaul.
