Insta360 unveils the X6, an innovative 8K 360-degree camera blending high-end imaging, AI automation, and rugged durability for travellers, vloggers and outdoor enthusiasts in a pocket-sized device.
Insta360 has launched the X6, a new 8K 360-degree camera pitched as a single device for travellers, vloggers and outdoor users who want one compact unit to cover multiple shooting styles. The company says the camera brings together a full 360-degree camera, a gimbal-style tracking tool and a rugged action camera in one pocketable body, a move that fits its push to make higher-end imaging easier to carry and faster to use.
The X6 arrives as the latest step in a decade-long product line and appears to be a more substantial redesign than a routine refresh. Digital Camera World reported ahead of launch that Insta360 had upgraded the sensor hardware, with the X6 moving to dual custom Sony sensors at around the 1-inch class. Insta360’s own launch material says the camera uses dual Sony 1/1.1-inch sensors, which it claims give a meaningful lift in light capture and overall image quality compared with the previous model.
Beyond the hardware, Insta360 is leaning heavily on automation. The new PanoMind AI engine is designed to analyse footage while the camera charges, then assemble a highlight reel and send it to a connected phone. The company has also added in-camera Dolby Vision, 10-bit colour and its AdaptiveTone 2.0 processing, which it says helps produce more balanced footage straight from the camera without much manual correction.
The X6 also brings practical upgrades for travel and action use. It has a 2.32-inch OLED display, waterproofing to 20 metres without an additional case and as deep as 60 metres with the Invisible Dive Case Pro, plus 47GB of usable internal storage and support for SD card expansion. Insta360 says the 2,600mAh battery can record for up to 140 minutes in 8K mode and reach 80% charge in 24 minutes. At $699.99, the camera is available now through Insta360’s own store, Amazon and selected retailers, with early buyers who activate before September 30, 2026 offered a year of Insta360+ Premium cloud storage and three months of Moments Pro.
