Lenovo is set to launch the IdeaPad Vibe, a low-cost Windows laptop emphasising colour options, extensive ports, and flexible chip choices, in response to Apple’s new budget MacBook and shifting software demands.
Lenovo appears to be preparing a low-cost Windows laptop that leans on colour, connectivity and chip choice as it targets the same value-conscious buyers drawn to Apple’s new budget MacBook, according to reporting from Windows Latest and other recent leaks.
Images obtained by Windows Latest suggest the machine will arrive as the IdeaPad Vibe and could be sold in a striking range of finishes, including pink, yellow, orange-brown, green, navy blue, silver and mint teal. The photos show a matching lid logo for each colour, while the keyboard area remains dark grey. That design approach would put the laptop among the more distinctive budget models on the market, rather than the plain black and silver devices that dominate the segment.
The leaked pictures also point to unusually broad port selection for an inexpensive notebook. The IdeaPad Vibe appears to carry two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, HDMI, a headphone jack and a microSD card slot. Notebookcheck has previously reported that Lenovo’s recent IdeaPad models have followed a similar pattern, combining slim designs with broad connectivity, including dual USB-A, USB-C, HDMI and memory card support. Lenovo has already shown with the IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1 and related models that it is willing to use Qualcomm silicon in thinner consumer laptops, while also keeping AMD options in its budget range.
The timing matters. Apple’s MacBook Neo has put pressure on Windows laptop makers by offering a lower entry price while still promising Mac-grade build quality and performance. That has sharpened scrutiny on budget Windows machines, many of which still rely on 8GB of memory even as Windows 11 grows heavier with AI features and background tasks. Microsoft has already indicated that reducing Windows’ memory use is now a priority, a sign that software demands are becoming part of the value equation as much as hardware costs.
Lenovo has not confirmed the IdeaPad Vibe’s specifications or price, but the combination of colourful styling, a generous port layout and reported Snapdragon and AMD versions suggests a deliberate attempt to stand out in a crowded entry-level market. Recent Lenovo launches show the company is expanding both its ARM-based line-up and its affordable AMD range, which could make the Vibe another test of how far budget buyers will trade a little polish for more practicality.
