OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work introduces tailored solutions to streamline SME operations

OpenAI launches ChatGPT Work, a practical AI assistant designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises manage everyday tasks more efficiently, from orders and stock to marketing and customer responses.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work is being positioned as a practical assistant for small businesses that need to manage orders, stock, customer responses and promotion without adding more admin overhead. According to Media Indonesia, the feature is aimed at helping users bring together information scattered across email, calendars and connected files, while keeping the owner in control of the final output. OpenAI says the tool is designed to turn notes, drafts and other fragments into finished work and to support recurring tasks across web and mobile.

For micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, that matters because day-to-day operations often move faster than the paperwork around them. OpenAI says ChatGPT Work can help teams consolidate information, automate routine tasks and produce documents, presentations and analyses from multiple sources. Its small-business messaging also stresses support for customer handling, financial reporting, marketing materials and general workflow management, areas where time savings can be immediate.

Media Indonesia outlined three ways business owners can use the system in practice. The first is weekly work planning: by combining sales orders, stock notes, delivery schedules and supplier information, ChatGPT Work can produce a priority list and flag what needs attention first. The second is content planning from product photos, where a user uploads an image and asks for realistic ideas for social media posts, short videos and simple content themes that can be produced on a smartphone. The third is faster sales analysis, with the system summarising which products are selling best or worst, identifying patterns and suggesting next steps in plain language.

OpenAI’s Academy says operations teams get the best results when they provide clear context, including goals, stakeholders, deadlines, constraints and source material. That guidance fits the way ChatGPT Work is being framed more broadly: as a tool that can organise messy information, highlight gaps and turn raw inputs into something usable, rather than replacing human judgement. OpenAI also says users can begin with one repeatable task, then expand from there as they learn where the system adds the most value.
