Google launches its first Bluetooth tracker in India, the Pixel Tag, aiming to compete with Apple AirTag and Android rivals through enhanced features and tighter integration with Pixel devices.
Google has brought its first Bluetooth tracker to India, entering a category already dominated by Apple AirTag and a growing number of Android-compatible rivals. The Pixel Tag is designed to help users locate bags, keys and other small items through Google’s Find Hub network, while also adding a few Pixel-specific functions such as Gemini support and the ability to ring a misplaced phone, even if it is on silent.
According to TV9 Hindi, the device is priced at ₹3,799 for a single unit and ₹12,900 for a pack of four. It will go on sale in India from November through Google India’s online store and is being offered only in a fog colourway. The tracker has a built-in speaker, front-facing Google branding and an LED indicator.
The hardware is built around Bluetooth channel sounding and ultra-wideband connectivity, which should improve directional finding when the tag is nearby. Google has also linked the device to Fast Pair for quicker setup with Pixel phones. The company says users can ask Gemini on a Pixel device to make the tag ring, and can also use the tag’s button to trigger a lost-phone alert. Reuters has reported that similar location trackers have become a more contested part of the Android accessory market, as rivals such as boAt expand on Google’s Find My Device network.
Google says the Pixel Tag uses a user-replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery that lasts more than a year, carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and can survive immersion in 1 metre of water for 30 minutes. It works with devices running Android 9 or later and measures 28 x 46.1 x 5.4 mm, weighing about 11.8 grams. The company also gives it a one-year warranty. In India, its launch arrives alongside the wider Pixel 10 family, which Google unveiled this year with its Tensor G5 chip and Gemini-powered features, underscoring the company’s push to tie accessories more tightly to its phones and software.
