Tapo’s L535E smart bulb is being sold on Amazon in France for €7.99, down from €13.99, making it a notably inexpensive entry into Matter-compatible home lighting. The discount matters because smart bulbs often become expensive once users start adding multiple rooms or building out a broader connected-home setup.
The bulb uses a standard E27 fitting and connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, so it does not need a separate hub for basic use. Setup is handled through the Tapo app, which also provides direct control over brightness, colour selection and white-temperature adjustment. TP-Link says the lamp supports millions of colours and is designed to work as a dimmable RGBW bulb, meaning it combines coloured LEDs with white light for more flexible everyday use.
Its main selling point is Matter certification. That should make it easier to place inside an existing smart-home system without being locked to one app or brand. According to Tapo and TP-Link, the bulb works with Apple Home, Alexa and Google Home, provided the user already has a compatible Matter controller such as a HomePod or Nest Hub. Voice control is also supported through Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant.
The company says the L535E delivers up to 1,100 lumens, roughly comparable to a 75W incandescent bulb, and is rated for 25,000 hours of use. It also includes scheduling, timers and energy monitoring. In practice, that makes it a fairly complete low-cost option for users who want connected lighting without paying Philips Hue prices.
