Google has introduced its Pixel 11 series in Australia, featuring higher prices, increased storage options, advanced security features, and compelling pre-order incentives from major carriers and retailers amid a wave of new upgrades.
Google’s Pixel 11 series has arrived in Australia with a sharper focus on storage, security and camera upgrades, but the bigger immediate story for buyers is the bundle of pre-order incentives now being offered by retailers and carriers. Tom’s Guide says the range will go on sale in Australia on August 20 and starts with the 6.3-inch Pixel 11 at AU$1,499, followed by the Pixel 11 Pro at AU$1,849, the Pixel 11 Pro XL at AU$2,099 and the foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold at AU$2,799.
The launch marks a noticeable step up in entry pricing, with starting costs rising by about AU$100 to AU$200 across the line-up. Google has also removed the 128GB option, lifting base storage to 256GB instead. That change makes the higher prices easier to frame as a storage upgrade, even if the headline numbers remain more expensive than last year’s equivalents.
According to Tom’s Guide and other launch coverage, the Pixel 11 range is built around Google’s new Tensor G6 chip, which is said to improve power efficiency and performance in browsing and app loading. The phones also use a revised Titan M3 security chip, which Google says adds stronger protection through post-quantum cryptography. On the hardware side, the series has a redesigned camera bar with an edge-to-edge glass finish and a metal frame for better durability. The Pro models add a new RGB ambient light system called HiLight, designed to signal calls, notifications and Gemini interactions.
Camera changes are more technical than cosmetic. The megapixel counts have not changed from the Pixel 10 series, but the sensors have been reworked to capture more light more quickly and improve zoom performance, with the Pro phones reportedly reaching up to 120x. TechRadar said the launch also introduced the HiLight system and confirmed the broader line-up at Google’s Made by Google event on August 12.
The most aggressive Australian offers are coming from Vodafone and Optus. Tom’s Guide reports that Vodafone is discounting the Pixel 11 by AU$650 on 24-month or 36-month plans, while customers taking the Pixel 11 Pro XL on similar terms can receive a bonus PlayStation 5. Optus is offering larger headline savings on its eligible plans, with AU$500 off the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro and AU$1,000 off the Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Both carriers are tying the savings to long contract commitments, so the real value depends on the total cost over time.
Retailers are leaning more heavily on bundled extras than straight price cuts. JB Hi-Fi is offering a Fitbit Air with the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL, with Pixel Buds 2a added for the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel Buds Pro 2 for the Pixel 11 Pro XL. The biggest bundle is reserved for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, which comes with a Pixel Watch 5 in Olive. The Good Guys is also listing a Pixel 11 Pro XL pre-order bundle that includes a Fitbit Air and Pixel Buds Pro 2. For buyers comparing plans, the decision now comes down less to the phone itself than to which retailer’s extras best match their priorities.
