Honor has unveiled its Robot Phone, a flagship device featuring a motorised gimbal camera arm and advanced automation capabilities, aiming to revolutionise mobile filmmaking with a global launch expected in August 2026.
HONOR has begun rolling out the Robot Phone, a flagship handset built around a motorised camera arm that is meant to make stabilised, cinema-style shooting available to ordinary smartphone users. The company first showed the device at Mobile World Congress in March and has now moved it into commercial launch after months of staged previews and promotional appearances.
At the centre of the design is a fully motorised three-axis gimbal integrated into the phone’s body. HONOR says the Titanium Agile Gimbal uses more than 100 precision parts, was developed through 60 manufacturing steps and is 65% smaller than conventional gimbals while delivering 200% greater structural strength. The company also says the mechanism is covered by more than 100 patents.
HONOR has positioned the device as the first product from its Cinematic Imaging Partnership with ARRI, the German cinema camera maker. The phone’s imaging system pairs a 200-megapixel main camera with a 200-megapixel telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. HONOR says the main camera supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording in ARRI Cinema mode, alongside ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and ARRI Looks processing through its H1 image chip.
The company is also leaning heavily on automation. Its camera arm can follow subjects and handle shooting modes such as Tilt Lock, First Person View, FPV Vertical and AI SpinShot. Running MagicOS, the phone uses a YOYO Robot Mode that can interpret gestures, recognise surroundings and move the camera through voice source localisation and AI live-tracking. HONOR says the device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, carries a 7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery and supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also features a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1Hz to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 6,800 nits. Reports from Android Central, PhoneArena, TechNode, Gizmochina and other outlets indicate that HONOR had been signalling a global launch window in August or the third quarter of 2026, with pre-orders and launch timing varying by market.
