Acer unveils the Atlas 7, a 7-inch Windows gaming device with high-end specs and a new flip-and-swivel concept, signalling a push towards versatile portable gaming and productivity solutions at IFA 2026.
Acer has added a smaller model to its Predator handheld range with the Atlas 7, a 7-inch Windows gaming device pitched as a more compact alternative to the 8-inch Atlas 8. At its next@acer event in Berlin, the company also showed Project DualPlay Mini, an 8-inch concept that tests the idea of a handheld that can also behave like a small productivity machine. Reuters-style reporting is not available here, but the product details were echoed across several hands-on reports from IFA 2026.
The Atlas 7 is built around Intel’s Arc G3 family, with higher-end versions using the Arc G3 Extreme chip and Arc B390 graphics, while other reports say a lower tier with Arc G3 and Arc B370 is also planned. Acer has paired the silicon with up to 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and as much as 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage, plus two Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and a UHS-II microSD slot. The battery is said to range from 60Wh to 80Wh depending on configuration, with some reports indicating the larger pack may carry over from the Atlas 8.
The display is a 7-inch full-HD IPS panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of peak brightness, variable refresh rate support and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with DXC treatment. Acer has also leaned into controls: there are Hall-effect triggers, optional TMR joysticks to reduce stick drift, contoured grips and a fingerprint reader built into the power button for Windows Hello sign-in. Cooling comes from a dual-fan arrangement using Acer’s AeroBlade metal fan alongside a secondary plastic fan, with the company claiming improved airflow through its Vortex Flow design.
Acer is also using the launch to underline how far it wants to push portable form factors. Project DualPlay Mini is not a shipping product, but it is notable for a flip-and-swivel design that can turn a handheld into a miniature laptop with a hidden backlit keyboard. The concept is intended to switch between gaming and work without a second device, and Acer has marked the rear with “Acer 50 since 1976” in Morse code. For the Atlas 7, Acer says North American availability begins in the fourth quarter of 2026, with EMEA from November 2026, while the previously announced Atlas 8 remains scheduled for September 2026 in those markets.
