Acer expands its Nitro V line in the US with a 16-inch gaming laptop featuring Intel’s new Panther Lake platform, aiming for improved power efficiency and long battery life, with options for Nvidia’s RTX graphics.
Acer has begun selling the Nitro V 16S gaming laptop in the US, expanding its Nitro V line with a 16-inch model that moves to Intel’s newer Panther Lake platform. According to Acer’s announcement, the machine is fitted with a Core Ultra 7 355 processor, replacing the Core 9 270H used in the previous generation. The company positions the change as a shift towards better power efficiency rather than a straightforward leap in raw throughput, with the new chip offering fewer cores and threads but materially lower energy use. Acer says that approach helps the notebook achieve up to 20 hours of video playback on its 76Wh battery, or around seven hours in MobileMark 30 testing.
The Nitro V 16S is also offered with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 laptop graphics, both configured at 85W. Acer pairs those options with a 16-inch IPS display running at 1,920 x 1,200 and 180Hz, along with full sRGB coverage. In its base configuration, the system comes with 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD, with pricing starting at $2,249 for the RTX 5060 version and rising to $2,807.99 for the RTX 5070 model. The launch follows Acer’s earlier refresh of the Predator Helios Neo 16 range, underlining the company’s broader update to its gaming laptop portfolio.
