The Asus ROG Strix G16 (2026) combines premium performance with a display designed for competitive gaming and creative workloads, featuring the latest Intel CPU, Nvidia GPU, and advanced cooling technology.
ASUS is pitching the ROG Strix G16 (2026) as a no-compromise gaming laptop for buyers who care more about raw performance than portability. According to the company’s product page, the machine can be configured with Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, a 24-core, 24-thread chip, alongside an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU. PC Guide says a current Amazon offer puts the model at $3,699.99, positioning it firmly in premium territory.
The appeal is not limited to gaming. ASUS says the system is built for demanding work such as rendering, local AI workloads and heavy media editing, helped by 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD in the listed configuration. The company also says the laptop supports up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM and 2TB of storage, with tool-free access intended to make upgrades easier.
Display quality is another major selling point. ASUS lists a 16-inch 2.5K Nebula panel with a 300Hz refresh rate, 16:10 aspect ratio and full DCI-P3 colour coverage, which should suit both competitive play and creative work. PC Guide notes that the model in question is sold with a 240Hz native mode and can be pushed further through Armoury Crate, while the wider 2026 ROG line has also been refreshed with high-refresh, colour-accurate panels.
Cooling and connectivity round out the package. ASUS says the Strix G16 uses Tri-Fan technology, an end-to-end vapour chamber and a sandwiched heatsink to control heat from the CPU and GPU. It also includes Wi-Fi 7, 2.5G Ethernet and Thunderbolt 5. That makes it a more workstation-like proposition than ASUS’s thinner 2026 Zephyrus models, which reviewers at Tom’s Hardware, PC Gamer and Tom’s Guide have praised for portability and battery life but note are aimed at a different buyer and still command premium prices.
