Asus has reduced the price of its distinctive Zenbook Duo UX8407, a dual-screen laptop designed for multitasking, offering improved affordability for its innovative OLED touchscreen experience.
Asus is discounting the Zenbook Duo UX8407 on its own website, cutting the price to €2,599 from €2,699. The reduction is modest, but it applies to one of the most distinctive laptops on sale: a dual-screen machine designed for users who want a wider workspace without moving to a full desktop setup.
The Zenbook Duo’s main selling point is its pair of 14-inch OLED touchscreens, each with a 3K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,000 nits in HDR, according to Asus. The two panels are joined by a redesigned hinge that narrows the gap between them, creating the effect of a single extended display when the keyboard is detached. Asus includes a Bluetooth keyboard that can sit in front of the device or be removed entirely, allowing the lower screen to be used as part of the main workspace.
Under the hood, the model on offer uses Intel’s Core Ultra X9 388H processor, 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Asus says the 99Wh battery can last up to 24 hours, depending on use. Reviewers from Tom’s Hardware, 91Mobiles, KitGuru and Notebookcheck have all highlighted the same combination of strong productivity performance, unusual design and long battery life, with the caveat that it is not intended as a gaming laptop.
Despite the novelty, the machine remains relatively portable. Asus lists the weight at 1.65kg with the keyboard attached and the thickness at 14.56mm. Connectivity is practical rather than extensive, with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5mm audio jack. For buyers who want a premium Windows 11 laptop built around multitasking rather than raw graphics power, the Zenbook Duo remains one of the more unusual options on the market.
