The new F-B100W model, blending retro style with modern features, rapidly sold out in Japan, highlighting strong demand for budget-connected watches that combine simplicity with functionality.
Casio’s new F-B100W watch has sold out in Japan within hours of going on sale, underlining strong demand for one of the company’s cheapest connected digital models. Notebookcheck reported that the 8,800 yen watch, roughly €47, went on sale on August 7 and disappeared from Casio’s own online shop the same day, with all three colourways snapped up soon after release.
The model takes its cues from the long-running F-91W family, but adds a step counter and Bluetooth time synchronisation. According to the product details, the watch uses a basic LCD display rather than a more advanced screen, and Casio has kept the formula deliberately simple: there is no heart-rate sensor, no GPS and no touchscreen. The case measures 41.9 x 38.1 x 8.8mm, weighs 26g and is paired with a biomass plastic strap, while battery life is said to be about two years.
The three versions differ mainly in styling. The F-B100W-1AJF uses a black case with a positive display and retro accents in blue, red and yellow. The F-B100W-1BJF is all black with a negative display and grey lettering, while the F-B100W-3AJF comes in muted green with turquoise details.
For now, buyers who missed the launch are left with third-party sellers in Japan, where stock is still appearing at mixed prices. Some listings are above Casio’s official tag, while others are cheaper. Casio has not said when the watch will return to its own shop or whether it will be sold outside Japan, and the company has not confirmed any international launch timetable. Industry watchers note that Japanese pricing rarely translates directly to later US or European retail prices.
