Colorful has expanded its Rimbook line in China with the L1 Plus, a slimmer, more capable model pitched at students, office users, creators and general-purpose buyers. The company, better known for graphics hardware and gaming-focused systems, is positioning the new notebook as a portable machine that keeps the emphasis on productivity rather than outright gaming performance.
The Rimbook L1 Plus centres on a 16-inch IPS display with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio, which gives it more usable vertical space than a conventional 16:9 panel. Colorful says the screen reaches a 120Hz refresh rate, covers the full sRGB colour space and peaks at 300 nits of brightness. Slim bezels and a matte metal lid are meant to give it a more refined look, while the chassis weighs 1.4kg and is 16.65mm thick, keeping it in the lightweight category.
Under the hood, the laptop uses an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, an 8-core, 16-thread chip with boost speeds up to 4.75GHz, alongside integrated Radeon 680M graphics. It ships with 16GB of LPDDR5-6400 memory and a 512GB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD, with two extra PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 slots available for storage expansion. Power comes from a 65Wh battery and charging is handled over USB-C with Power Delivery support, so it can be topped up with a standard USB-C charger.
The launch also continues a clear shift in the Rimbook family. Earlier Rimbook L1 models leaned on Intel’s Core i5-12450H, a 15.6-inch Full HD display and a 60Hz panel, with pricing around $399 and availability in markets such as the Philippines. By contrast, the L1 Plus brings a sharper screen, faster refresh rate and a much stronger processor platform, though Colorful is still clearly aiming at practical work rather than premium-class performance. The new model is priced in China at CNY 5,999, which puts it well above the entry-level Rimbook L1 but within reach of buyers looking for a more capable portable notebook.
