FCNT unveils the arrows Alpha2, a premium yet affordable smartphone that combines flagship performance with competitive pricing, signalling a strategic push in the evolving AI era market.
FCNT has unveiled the arrows Alpha2 at a product strategy event in Japan, presenting the handset as a continuation of its effort to offer premium smartphone features without pushing the price into the most expensive tier. Chief executive Yasuo Kuwayama said the device came after a difficult development process, while marketing chief Kazuma Sotoya framed rising memory costs as part of the “new normal” of the AI era and argued that cutting-edge phones should remain within reach of ordinary buyers.
The company has kept the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme at the heart of the device, a choice it said reflects a refusal to compromise on core performance. That chip also powered the original arrows Alpha, launched in 2025, which was positioned as a high-spec model with a 6.4-inch 144Hz display and a strong emphasis on software and hardware tuning. FCNT said it had even examined a lower-tier processor option before deciding that customers did not want a stripped-back handset that merely performed adequately.
Pricing remains central to the strategy. In Japan, the SIM-free model starts at 94,900 yen for the 8GB/256GB version, while the 12GB/512GB variant is priced at 118,800 yen. Carrier versions are also being offered through NTT Docomo, au, SoftBank, Y!mobile and Rakuten Mobile, broadening availability beyond FCNT’s earlier distribution. The company has also introduced an entry-level memory configuration to offset component inflation, alongside RAM Boost support that can expand virtual memory to as much as 24GB.
The device is arriving amid a broader push by FCNT to sustain what it calls an “affordable high-end” category as smartphone prices climb. The original arrows Alpha line was launched in 2025 with a similar message, and the new model appears designed to preserve that positioning while adding more retail channels. For buyers, the practical significance is that FCNT is trying to combine flagship-class silicon, large storage options and wider sales access without moving decisively into ultra-premium pricing territory.
