Godox launches ultrabright GM6S Pro monitor with enhanced daylight visibility

Godox has unveiled the GM6S Pro, a brighter 5.5-inch 4K HDMI on-camera monitor featuring 2,000 cd/m² brightness and a daylight-readable design, signalling a significant upgrade in portable field displays.

Godox has added a brighter version of its GM6S on-camera monitor, with the GM6S Pro 5.5-inch 4K HDMI Ultrabright model now listed for pre-order in a Kit 1 bundle. The company says the display uses a 5.5-inch IPS touchscreen and reaches a claimed 2,000 cd/m², alongside a 1,200:1 contrast ratio. It also says the panel covers 99.9% of Rec.709, positioning it as a daylight-readable option for field monitoring.

The monitor accepts and passes HDMI signals, with support for DCI and UHD 4K formats, although the product details in the launch material specify input signals up to 4K UHD 30p. Godox also includes the familiar range of monitoring aids expected on this type of device, including anamorphic de-squeeze, false colour, image overlays, HDR support and 3D LUTs. Camera control is supported for selected Sony, Nikon and Canon models, but the feature requires optional cables.

At 286g, the monitor is relatively light for a field unit and is built around an aluminium alloy body. Power options are broad, with an NP-F battery plate, USB-C input, a 24V barrel input and a 7.8V barrel output for accessories or camera power. Godox says the fanless design is intended to improve reliability without introducing noise, while the monitor’s claimed power draw is 10W.

The GM6S Pro enters a market already served by the standard GM6S, which B&H Photo lists at 1,200 cd/m² brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and a price of $329. Godox’s own product page describes the earlier model as a 1,200-nit monitor aimed at outdoor use. The Pro version appears to be a more aggressively specified refresh, with brightness and contrast both increased, and a pre-order price of $199 in the launch listing.
