Google unveils the Pixel 11 Pro XL, its most complete and expensive flagship yet, with a focus on AI capabilities, premium hardware, and long-term software support, setting a new standard in high-end smartphones.
Google’s Pixel 11 Pro XL is the company’s most complete flagship yet, and also its most expensive. It is built around the Tensor G6 processor and, despite early marketing around a 2nm chip, Tom’s Guide says the silicon is actually made on TSMC’s 3nm process. Even so, Google is claiming meaningful gains in everyday use, including faster web browsing, quicker app launches and a larger jump in on-device TPU performance, which matters more for the Pixel’s AI-led features than raw benchmark bragging rights.
That AI focus remains the Pixel’s clearest advantage. Google’s software handles call screening, photo processing, live translation and assistant features locally, and the company says the phone ships with Android 17 and seven years of operating system and security updates. For buyers who keep a handset for years, that support window is one of the strongest value arguments in the market.
The hardware is equally ambitious. The Pro XL uses a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, and industry reports describe the Pro models as reaching very high peak brightness levels. Camera hardware includes a 50MP main sensor, 48MP ultrawide lens and 48MP telephoto camera, with a 42MP front camera. Review coverage also highlights Google’s new HiLight LED ring, which can act as a notification indicator and assist with close-range lighting, although it is more of a refinement than a reason to upgrade on its own.
Battery life should be solid rather than dramatic. The 5,115mAh cell is generally presented as enough for a full day and, with lighter use, into a second. At launch, the starting price is $1,299, putting the Pixel firmly in premium territory and making its long-term software support and imaging performance central to the purchase case. TechRadar also notes that the Pro XL is not the only model in the range, but it is the one most clearly aimed at users who want the largest screen, the strongest camera array and the most polished all-round Pixel experience.
