Leaked marketing material suggests Google is unveiling a special edition of its Pixel Watch 5 in collaboration with basketball star Stephen Curry, featuring a water-repellent band and limited regional release at an expected price of €579.99.
Google’s next Made by Google launch is expected on August 12 in New York, and the Pixel Watch 5 is already drawing attention before Google has officially taken the wraps off it. Newly leaked marketing material suggests the company is preparing a Stephen Curry special edition of its flagship smartwatch, extending a collaboration that began earlier this year with a fitness tracker tied to the basketball star’s training routine.
According to the leak first reported by MyMobiles, the Curry-branded model is based on the standard silver 45mm LTE Pixel Watch 5 but ships with a distinct woven loop band. The strap uses stone grey and taupe tones, with bright orange edging and a striped detail running along the tail. A brown label carries Curry’s name and his “#LockIn” branding, underscoring the performance focus Google appears to be aiming for. The materials also suggest Curry is due to appear at the launch event, which would fit the marketing push around the special edition.
The most notable addition is a water-repellent treatment for the fabric band. That matters because, while the Pixel Watch 5 itself is said to carry 5 ATM and IP68 protection, standard straps are not designed to shrug off water in the same way. Google’s own fine print, as shown in the leaked slide, warns that the coating is temporary and will wear away with use and exposure over time. Once that happens, the company says it will not accept responsibility for moisture damage to the band.
Pricing appears to be set at €579.99 for the single Curry edition configuration, which would place it €30.99 above the expected cost of the regular 45mm LTE model in Europe. The leak also points to limited availability and regional restrictions, suggesting this will be a niche release rather than a broad retail option. Press images show the watch face set to August 20, hinting that Google may stagger the launch and shelf date. The edition follows the May release of the Fitbit Air Special Edition, which also used orange accents, “#LockIn” branding and a sweat-resistant loop band, indicating that Google and Curry are building a wider fitness-oriented product line around the same visual language.
