At its Made by Google event in New York, Google announced an expanded Pixel 11 series, the Pixel Watch 5, and Pixel Tag, highlighting advancements in hardware, AI, and security ahead of a staggered release from August to October.
Google used its Made by Google event in New York on 12 August to unveil a broader Pixel hardware refresh than many had expected, introducing the Pixel 11 family, the Pixel Watch 5, its first Pixel Tag Bluetooth tracker and a new colour option for Pixel Buds Pro 2. TechJuice reported that pre-orders opened immediately, with sales due to begin on 20 August, while the wider launch window was broadly in line with the mid-August timing anticipated by earlier coverage from Digital Trends and other tech sites.
The Pixel 11 range comprises four models: the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Google has moved the base storage point up to 256GB across the board, with the Pro models going to 1TB, and paired the phones with its Tensor G6 processor. According to Google’s presentation as reported by Los40, the new chip is meant to improve speed, efficiency and on-device AI functions, while TechJuice said Google is claiming gains in web browsing and app launch performance versus the previous generation.
The most visible addition on the Pro models is HiLight, a light strip built into the camera bar that can signal Gemini activity and incoming calls with custom colours. Android Central reported ahead of the launch that leaked images showed the feature on the Pixel 11 Pro XL in a matte black finish, lending weight to the final design language Google later confirmed. The camera system was also upgraded, with a larger telephoto sensor, support for up to 120x Pro Zoom and faster low-light capture, while Google says the Titan M3 security chip brings post-quantum cryptography into the secure boot process for the first time. TechJuice said all models will receive 7 years of Android, security and Pixel Drop updates.
Google also used the event to push further into wearables and accessories. The Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399, according to TechJuice, with new Warm Gold and Pyrite finishes, while the Pixel Tag enters a tracker market long dominated by Apple and Samsung. Los40 reported that the watch line has been expanded with new health, sports and connectivity features, including improved sensors and Gemini integration. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold will not ship until October, preserving a staggered release strategy that keeps the foldable as the most expensive and most delayed model in the range.
