Google unveils Pixel 11 Pro Fold with enhanced brightness and durability at $1,899

Google launches the Pixel 11 Pro Fold featuring an 8-inch internal display, improved brightness, stronger build, and new software features, with shipments beginning on August 20 and pre-orders open now.

Google has launched the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at its Made by Google event, setting the price at $1,899 and confirming that shipments and shop availability will begin on August 20. Pre-orders are open now. The foldable sits at the top of a broader Pixel 11 refresh that also includes the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL, all of which rise by $100 over the previous generation, according to Google’s announcement.

The new foldable centres on an 8-inch internal Super Actua Flex OLED display and a 6.5-inch outer OLED screen. Google says both panels can reach 3,600 nits of peak brightness and are 20% brighter than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The company also claims the device is nearly 10% lighter, 1mm thinner and three times stronger than its predecessor, based on internal testing with pre-production units.

Design changes include a composite rear panel, scratch-resistant glass, a redesigned hinge and IP68-rated protection against water and dust. The phone comes in obsidian or olive with a grey satin metal frame. Folded, it measures 10.1mm thick, 3 inches wide and 6.1 inches tall. Unfolded, it is 5.9 inches wide.

Inside, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold uses Google’s Tensor G6 processor with 16GB of RAM and storage choices of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. Google says the chip improves power efficiency by 20%, web browsing speed by 25% and app load times by 15% compared with Tensor G5. The camera system has a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 10.5-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 10.8-megapixel 5x telephoto lens with 30x Super Zoom. Google says the main sensor captures 56% more light than before.

The phone supports 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second and includes 10-megapixel front and inner cameras, each also capable of 4K capture. Google says battery life lasts more than 24 hours in its testing, with 30W wired charging taking the device to 50% in 30 minutes and Qi2.2 magnetic wireless charging supported at up to 25W. New software additions include HiLight, which uses rear LED notifications for selected calls and Gemini replies when the phone is face-down, plus accessibility and voice features across the Pixel 11 range. Google is also offering a six-month Google AI Pro trial with the Fold and says Assistant will be replaced by Gemini in September.
