Leaked details suggest Google’s upcoming Fitbit Edge will offer a sophisticated blend of fitness tracking and smart features, including AI-powered coaching and a colourful display, positioning it as a premium yet accessible device amid an evolving wearables market.
Google’s next Fitbit device is shaping up as a clearer attempt to bridge the gap between a basic tracker and a full smartwatch. Leaks reported by Phonandroid and 9to5Google suggest the Fitbit Edge will sit above the screenless Fitbit Air and the Fitbit Charge 6, while remaining cheaper and simpler than the Pixel Watch line. The positioning appears deliberate: a premium fitness band for buyers who want broad health tracking, but do not want to move to a watch.
The most concrete detail so far is pricing. Dealabs, as cited by Phonandroid, says the Fitbit Edge will cost €179 in France, while Notebookcheck reports the same European figure and a UK price of £159. 9to5Google says the device is expected to land at roughly $180 in the United States. The colour options also appear to be aligned with Google’s current wearable palette, with reported finishes including Obsidian and Matte Black, Olive and Satin Pyrite, Canyon and Champagne Gold, and Fog and Polished Silver.
On specifications, the Fitbit Edge looks more ambitious than a standard band. Leaks point to a 1.34-inch AMOLED display with always-on support, built-in GPS, and an altimeter, plus compatibility with both Android and iPhone devices. Battery life is said to reach up to seven days with always-on disabled, dropping to about two days if the always-on display is left active. Google is also reported to be promising rapid charging, with five minutes of power giving roughly 24 hours of use.
Health and training features look extensive. Reports from several outlets say the device will track steps, distance, calories, heart rate, sleep, running, swimming, golf, menstrual cycles, SpO2, skin temperature, ECG readings, atrial fibrillation detection, irregular rhythm alerts, training load, readiness and VO2 max. More notably, the Edge is said to lean heavily on artificial intelligence, with Gemini-based coaching, a personalised fitness plan generator, “Ask Coach” and real-time guidance on the wrist. TechRadar also reports that the display may surface tools such as Google Maps, YouTube Music and Find My Phone, suggesting that Google wants the Edge to function as a more capable companion device than a conventional tracker. A launch date has not been confirmed, but the repeated leaks indicate that an official announcement may not be far away.
