GoPro opens pre-orders for the Mission 1 Pro ILS, its first cinema camera with interchangeable lenses, featuring 8K recording and specialised Micro Four Thirds optics, with shipping commencing in September.
GoPro has opened pre-orders for the Mission 1 Pro ILS, its first interchangeable-lens cinema camera, with shipping due to begin on 2 September. The company is asking $699.99, or $599.99 for renewing subscribers, and says the camera is a specialised version of the Mission 1 Pro built around Micro Four Thirds optics.
The headline specification is a 50MP 1in sensor paired with GoPro’s GP3 processor. According to GoPro, the camera records up to 8K60, 4K240 and 1440p480, while Open Gate modes reach 8K30 and 4K120. The body also includes a 2.59in touch OLED rear screen and weatherproof construction, keeping the design aligned with the company’s rugged product line.
GoPro has also confirmed a significant limitation for lens choice: the Mission 1 Pro ILS has no electronic contacts, so it requires manual-focus lenses with manual, or fixed, aperture control. The company says the sensor and Micro Four Thirds mount combination creates an effective crop factor of roughly 2.7x to 3x versus full frame, which will favour telephoto work more than wide-angle shooting.
Alongside the camera, GoPro is launching Mission Monitor, a free app for iPhone and iPad. The App Store listing says it connects over USB-C and provides focus peaking, focus assist, zebra overlays, LUT preview, composition guides and camera control, including recording start and stop. The app requires iOS 18 or later, and GoPro says the focus tools are intended specifically for the Mission 1 Pro ILS.
