Honor launches durable Turbo smartphone in Russia with massive battery and premium protection

Honor introduces the Turbo model in Russia via AliExpress, emphasising resilience, large battery life, and advanced display features, as it targets consumers seeking durability alongside modern 5G capabilities.

HONOR has begun selling the Turbo smartphone in Russia through AliExpress, with the device going on sale on 17 August. The model is being pitched on three main strengths: impact resistance, water and dust protection, and a large battery, alongside a bright AMOLED display. It is offered in beige, green and black.

According to the Russian listing, the phone is built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The display is a 6.79-inch AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 6,000 nits. The device also supports 5G and NFC payments, while the screen is said to use DCI-P3 colour coverage, a Super Dynamic mode and PWM dimming to reduce eye strain.

Battery life is a central part of the pitch. The handset uses an 8,560mAh battery, supports 80W HONOR SuperCharge and can reverse-charge other devices. That puts it close in concept to HONOR’s Win Turbo model sold in China, which HONOR describes as having a far larger 10,000mAh battery, 80W wired charging and reverse charging, suggesting the Russian product is either a regional variant or a related device tuned for a different market.

The camera system is modest by flagship standards, with a 50-megapixel main rear sensor, a 5-megapixel auxiliary sensor and a 16-megapixel front camera. HONOR also says the software includes AI tools for removing unwanted objects, restoring closed eyes in group shots, cutting out subjects, sharpening images and reducing glare. The more unusual selling point is durability: HONOR says the body is designed to survive drops from up to 2.5 metres, using reinforced glass, a six-layer cushioning structure and SGS-certified protection against falls, water and dust, including IP66, IP68 and IP69K ratings.
